MPES – Anti-Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy
Last Revised: April 2022
Slavery and human trafficking remain a hidden blight on our global society. We all have a responsibility to be alert to the risks, however small, in our business and the wider supply chain. Staff are expected to report concerns, and management is expected to act upon them.
Organisation’s Structure
MPES is a provider of accountancy and other professional tuition (face-to-face and online) for various qualifications. Based in the Isle of Man, the company has an annual turnover less than the threshold of £36 million.
Our Supply Chains
Our supply chain includes the sourcing of printed materials such as notes and question banks.
Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking
We are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or any part of our business. Our Anti-Slavery Policy reflects our commitment to:
- Acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships.
- Implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place anywhere in our supply chains.
Due Diligence Processes for Slavery and Human Trafficking
As part of our initiative to identify and mitigate risks, we:
- Run our company through a franchise network with robust acceptance criteria to ensure optimum control of the business environment and the brand.
- Build long-standing relationships with our suppliers and make clear our expectations of business behavior.
- Engage with suppliers through a Manx company or branch, expecting them to have suitable anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes.
- Encourage the reporting of concerns and protect whistleblowers through established systems.
Supplier Adherence to Our Values
We have zero tolerance for slavery and human trafficking. We expect all suppliers and contractors to comply with our values. The Board of Directors is ultimately responsible for compliance and supplier relationships.
Training
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and business, we provide training to relevant staff members. All Directors and staff have been briefed on the subject.
Our Effectiveness in Combating Slavery and Human Trafficking
We measure our effectiveness through:
- Regular communication and personal contact with the next link in the supply chain to ensure understanding and compliance with our expectations.
- Regular retendering for suppliers.
Compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our organisation’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the current year.
